The Joshua Tree Jack Rabbit family here on the ranch have been surprising me Despite statistics of thousand per square mile, I can attest to the Fact that there is no way the population on the north side of Joshua Tree -is even close to that-though it would be an amazing thing to see -flying jackrabbits here there and everywhere!

feathery- fluffy- walnuts with legs-the baby quail parade-again shot during twilight-through a window and a screen-with this herd of fluffiness- moving at a speed-that makes all 12 of them-appear to be one bigger feather-fest!they make the most adorable sounds-that i hope-to capture-on video-if there is enough light
Not to leave little Alvin the desert Chipmunk out of Sundays desert wildlife visits-and yes -there are 2 other little chipmunk siblings-I just have not yet been quick-and-or-quiet enough-to capture the trio's antics-Yet!
It goes beyond my understanding how a creature moving at great speed can freeze frame itself-in one blink-

it may have been kismet, or D Day for the desert wildlife-This young Jack Rabbit appeared at the watering station too!
If we were not a dog run ranch,this would have been a moment for beautiful contemplation and discovery-however-with one eyed Captain Jack sparrow-and Lady Love-lounging in the living room-I had to swiftly pull a cookie bribe and close them into my studio-while I closed their doggy door-so one miss Lady-would not turn into Kujo-and chase young jackrabbit away
Finally !!-after 18 years on our Joshua Tree ranch -I actually saw wee little baby quail -cuddled together-with PaPa Quail and Ma Ma Quail-tryng to drink some water in this scorching 105 degree -dry-unkind-Mojave Desert

I Have locked myself in my air conditioned studio.
Temperature outside - a mere 101 degrees
My Goal-to upload and clear every photo on my hard drive

My Motivation?
the video card on my beloved 3 year old laptop is dying,so I am on a mission to save my photos,before it is too late
I lay down in the parking lot of our hotel in Lompoc California last week to take shots of these lovely tall purple flowers.
Do you know what they are called?
I was so delighted to be laying on cool cement with a chilly breeze blowing across me, I was in no hurry at all-to return to the standing position
I let myself get lost in this wonderful violet canopy, until a kind vacationer hurried over upon seeing me there,sprawled out on my back, to ask if I was alright.

Unravelling
Ive spent the past eight weeks being part of an amazing group of women taking the beloved ,Susannah Conway's E-course Unravelling.
In the past few years since retiring early (Hah!), from traditional full time employment, I have taken a handful of classes in person and on line.
While each one has been a growing and learning experience, NONE have come close to getting down to the heart of the matter, as Unravelling has..
I have gently waded into the waters of really looking at myself-not an activity I face enthusiastically,especially in public; but, that is just one piece of the loving magic of this warm and safe nest
The other is,~ I was not alone,~ not for more then a moment, because,the infinite kindness and warmth of a female classmates, welcomed me, encouraged me, inspired me and became my faraway friends. As they bravely shared bits and pieces of themselves, a resonating familiarity opened up again in my heart. I came to feel I had found kindred spirits.
Oh I know that may sound a tad dramatic; but, that is just how it was.
Ever amazing, Ever safe, Ever Wonderful.
And the creator of this experience?
Well, a visit to her blog and a view of a few videos will speak for this incredible lady.
