Greetings Friends from all over our earth!
A delightful though brief visit to an Ostrich farm, just outside of Solvang CA provided a comical photo opportunity.
There are very specific directions posted on there enclosure fence on how to hold the feeding pan(WITH BOTH HANDS)!
Obviously I could not hold the pan and my camera at the same time; so, I first fed these most aggressive and hungry "BIG BIRDS", then set the pan down to observe them through my camera lens.
I spotted a large unsettling sign that reads
OSTRICHES LIKE TO BITE!
It would have been only fitting that the owners of this farm posted this sign at the counter where I gave 5.00 for admission and a dollar for a pan of feed.
Just a bit late for this news, as I looked down to the feeding pan now filled with small squirrels happily gobbling up the remaining feed.
How many kind visitors have been bitten?
What severity of injury does an ostrich bite cause?
No sooner had I decided distance was the only safe strategy for photographing these beauties when the worker came out to tell me
"I’m closing in 10 minutes"
Again that information would have been much more helpful prior to forking over my money.
None the less, I made the best of it and enjoyed my short time admiring the grace of movement of these birds-like feathered ballet dancers.
Their eyes are just remarkable
God definitely miss-assigned those amazing eyelashes on these big birds
How much more we middle age women would have rejoiced to awakening one morning to discover beautiful, thick, batting eyelashes, such as these ,gracing our eyes big and bright!
